  1. Been there six years ago. You wouldnt believe it.
    It was a time of some kind of rebellion. People were turning against government. People actually took the city centre, fireplaces every corner (tires, cars, buses).
    There were riots every night, you could even hear gun shots.
    You know, I actually believe all this Street art you talk about and show us has something to do with those times, of course people expressing themselves, but in
    other way just covering all “FUERA ULISES” graffitti.
    It was really sad to see every Wall with politic messages and not artsy graffiti.
    It hurts deep to see and live injustice, but i have to admit that for me it was one of the greatest adventures in that trip i went.

    • Oaxaca is a place that I associate with rebellion, purely as this is how I had heard of it in England. I think one of the reasons I was so attracted to it was because of that. I respect challenging authority, where it is necessary to bring about change for the benefit of the masses. There was definitely an edge in Oaxaca, which inspires great artistic expression. In fact, when I was there there was a massive protest. Totally partial to a good protest!!!
